Yr End Cruise and Pillow Drive
December 12, 2020
An End of the Year Cruise and Pillow Drive was organized by San Diego Woodies on Saturday, December 12. Because the club’s annual Holiday Luncheon was nixed due to COVID restrictions we had to come up with other fun. In years past at ourat our luncheon gathering club members have supported the Warrior Foundation. We called our contact there to see how we could help. We were told they could use pillows, pillow cases, and packaged ready-to-heat and eat foods for the vets at the Freedom Station residences.
Our woodie group met at Encinitas City Hall at 10:30am then headed south to Mission Bay Park, just south of Paradise Point for an informal BYO lunch and visiting. Masks and social distancing were observed. We passed the hat for The Warrior Foundation and collected the goods to deliver later in the week to the organization.
It felt good to gather year-end to kick some tires and to greet longtime friends. We even welcomed a pair of new club members. Our small group of 10 woodies and assorted friends managed to rustle up two dozen pillows, pillowcases, two boxes of pantry foods, and a sizeable collection of cash to benefit Warrior Foundation, Freedom Station.
