I joined the hobby while in college in 1967, when I purchased a 1934 Chevy coupe. My passion since that day has been restoring and driving vintage cars in Indiana, Florida and California. After attending the Wavecrest shows throughout the 1990s, my craving for a woodie grew and led me to finding a restorable "barn find" 1937 Ford woodie. I proudly registered my woodie for the first time at the 2007 Wavecrest Show.

I have always been a car guy, starting with a 1953 Ford pick up I drove to high school. This passion inspired me to start my own auto interior and design business almost 50 years ago. Over the years we have owned many different cars, including two Woodies, a 1932 and 1938 Ford. After moving to Carlsbad three years ago and attending the Wavecrest events, the search was on for another Woody. Now we have the 1940 Ford that we enjoy cruising along the coast. Wanting to find more like-minded people, we joined the Woodie club and the rest is history.

We moved to San Diego county in 2009. My husband has been a car enthusiast for 64 years and his grandfather offered him a woodie which he declined. Over the years he realized his mistake and how great it would be to have a woodie, so we purchased one in 2013 and joined San Diego Woodies.

I bought my first woodie when I was 15 back in 1964. I was a teenage surfer so this was the perfect car. Moving ahead to 1991, I attended Wavecrest and was hooked. My wife agreed to buy a woodie if she got new carpet. Done.
Bought my current woodie in 1992. It was pretty ugly but different than most so I went to work. I have since been to 33 Wavecrest's in a row and the woodie has been in my garage for 32 plus years.

I'm relatively new to the world of Woodies. In retirement, I wanted to get an old classic or muscle car. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. What could be better than having a piece of history that is so representative of our Southern California surfing culture and beach lifestyle?
